What is Branding?
According to Cambridge dictionary, branding is the act of giving a company a particular design or symbol in order to advertise its products and services.
Branding simply makes you stand out and an effective strategy gives you a major competitive advantage in whatever industry or niche you are in.
Great examples of successful brands are Coca-Cola, Pepsi, Apple, Samsung, McDonalds, KFC and the list goes on and on.

Why is Branding Important?
1. It is the visual identity for your company or person. This is how your audience perceive who you are. Your brand identity should readily tell your customers the problem you are solving or “pain point”. It easily makes your company or person recognizable.
2. It helps you gain competitive advantage. This for instance is what makes you differentiate whether you want to buy Popeye’s chicken or KFC chicken.
3. Your brand identity should have its emotional side that connects with people. Branding helps you to connect with your audience easily by identifying with their pain points.

Colors convey emotions and should not be underestimated.
Choose 1 or 2 primary colors and a few secondary ones to complete your palette.
Be consistent with your colors and let people always remember you through them.
2. Fonts or Typography
This is often overlooked but it is very important. Fonts really matter and it conveys a meaning too concerning your brand message.
3. Logo Design
It is important that your logo appearance is consistent. Remember, this is the face of your brand identity. Statistics show that 75% of customers recognize a brand by its logo.
From your logo design to logo colors or fonts, it should compliment your brand. Consider where your logo will appear and when you use a graphic designer to create your logo, clearly convey what kind of logo you want.
4. Website Design
Your website should reflect who you are and what your brand is all about.
Use powerful words, catchy images and of course your represented colors. If you need help choosing words for your brand, here is a list of power words that you can use.
Use colors that match (this is where your color palette comes in). Just because blue is your favorite color, does not mean the whole website should be doused in blue. Mix and match with soft tones of other colors that work with your main colors.
5. Business Cards
Professional business cards put you on a pedestal. It is not a must as the whole world is clearly moving digital but there are times at certain events it just might come in handy. It saves you writing your number or email addresses on napkins or small bits of papers that can be misplaced.
An effective business card should have what you do briefly on it, your logo, name, professional email address and website. Easy.
6. Ads
Your Ads should reflect your company or person. Messaging should be clear, simple and not confusing. Running Ads consistently puts you or your company in the face of people. The color and content registers in their minds quickly.
Remember: Visuals is everything. Try to create strong visuals that people won’t forget easily.
